On Sunday, December 31st, 2017, the creators of Charleston’s largest New Year’s Eve event, “The Yorktown Countdown,” will roll out their newest signature event, “The Mansion Ball.”
This one-of-a-kind New Year celebration will be held at “The Restoration,” one of the holy city’s top-rated boutique hotels, located just off King Street in the heart of downtown. With a roaring 20’s masquerade theme, The Mansion Ball is anticipated to be the most luxurious ball drop party in town. Organizers will use the hotel’s four largest penthouse suites and adjoining private rooftops to offer its guests over 10,000 square feet of entertainment space, live music from 10 decades past, multiple bars and delicious food, creating one truly unique Gatsby-like experience to ring in the happy new year in 2018.
From 9:00 PM until 1:00 AM, patrons will enjoy a variety of live bands and DJ’s throughout three different floors. Headlining acts include, “Yes Lady,” a brand-new project from Charleston’s hardest gigging musicians. Steeped in funk, soul, pop, rock, R&B, hip hop and live jazz, this outfit of local heavyweights has established itself as a leader in the Holy City’s music scene, playing regularly at notable venues like the “Charleston Pour House” and “The Commodore.” The 5-piece powerhouse consists of Mike Quinn on tenor, Manny Houston on keys, Dave Grimm on Guitar, Stuart White on drums and the inimitable Corey Stephens on bass. Expect an enormously energetic performance with ripping solos, soulful vocals, and catchy, synchronized melodies on top of a thick, relentless funk driven core. Also, expect New Year’s Eve dancing and to be wildly entertained.
Next up is “DJB,” a top-notch female solo artist who has recently emerged on the scene as a purveyor of infectious good vibes. Through a variety of electronic dance grooves and funky beats, Brandie Cannady’s music is not just another DJ’s collection of songs; people are paying attention. It’s irresistible, startling and almost addictive in the way she continuously pushes the limits of her truly unique sound.
Finally, a live performance by Charleston’s very own master violinist, Seth G., will serve as the high-energy icing on the cake for guests to enjoy every remaining style of music from the past 5 decades. Through a variety of dance, hip-hop and remixes of all-time classics, Seth’s music can be described as visceral or ear gripping, while others simply call it electronic wonder, littered with multi-layered melodies and mood-altering charm.
Everyone is sure to feel like the New Year’s VIP they are, at this event. With tickets starting at $150 per person, the celebration includes access to several premium open bars, light hors d’oeuvres and complete reign of all four penthouse suites and rooftop terraces for one unforgettable way to bring in the 2018 New Year.
